Reasons the Navy might (or might not) be right for you

There are many reasons that one feels that they should join the Navy. The benefits are great, and the truth is that the Navy takes care of its Sailors really well. Those who join receive an impressive array of benefits designed to keep you healthy, comfortable, and secure.

I want you! Some people join the Navy because of a strong feeling of patriotism or honor. Maybe you feel honor to your country and to those who served before you.

Often, the Navy will FULLY pay for your education.

During 8 weeks of boot camp, you will recieve the best physical and mental training. During this training you will gain self confindence. It will change your life.

This isn't just a "job". When you're in the Navy, you get to work with some of the most cutting edge technology in the world. From start to finish, the Navy will make sure that you have the right training needed to succeed in your profession.

Perhaps the biggest "perk" to joining the Navy is the travel. When you're a Navy Sailor you get to see many new and exciting places.

Aside from the pay and the personal satifaction that you might gain by joining the Navy, there are also reasons YOU MAY NOT WANT to join.

Some feel that once you graduate from boot camp, you aren't able to fullfill your job duties, instead it seems like you are always pulling someone else's weight.

Many times, recruits go into the Navy feeling that their recruiter has been completely honest with them, only to find out that many thing the recruiter said are not true.

Many recruits don't realize that the recruiter will tell them almost anything to get them to join. The recrutiers will stretch the truth as much as possible in order to get young teens into the Navy just so thay can meet their quota.

Many also join the Navy with the idea of seeing many differents place and visiting exotic ports (as we described above). While this may be true in some cases, often sailors are not allowed to leave the ship at port. While traveling, there may be activities that you wish to particpate in but will not be able to. You are there on Navy duty, not pleasure.
